Passengers

Passengers

When our fists rise
against afternoon light
let us not forgot
that trees too
ache for sky—

I mean the streets are older
than our shadows
and these buildings are just paragraphs

Why do we bite our own lips
and hold memories on our laps?

The minutes slow
so we can remember
the speed at which we move
